The guys & gals on Eurogamer’s Minecraft Server took it upon themselves to create a 1:1 replica of Yorkminster Cathedral. According to the video description, NO spawned items or other trickery was used – all blocks were truly farmed.
Like all the best mega constructions, the project is not only HUGE, but also has a nice attention to detail. I especially like the floor tile mosaic.
This domain was initially conceived as a place to spotlight the biggest, best, & most innovative Minecraft construction projects. While we still hope to spend lots of time showing off impressive Minecraft works, we have decided to broaden our focus.
Minecraft Creations will now serve as a general, all-purpose Minecraft blog and fansite. We intend to be a destination where Minecraft fans can stay up to date and get the full skinny on game updates, tips and tricks, mods, skins, and everything in between.
If you’re a Minecraft fan interested in contributing, or just someone that has finished a big project you’d like to show off, please get in touch with us at minecraftcreations -at- gmail.com.
The recently completed Mother Tree and accompanying aqueduct.
It was grown by planting trees (~20, I forgot to count) on top of other trees until the final height was reached. The images show the tree at several points during it’s growth along with the construction of the aqueduct.
Fun facts:
-The tree is entirely wood and leaves, except for a few torches and a ladder.
-The top of the tree touches the skybox (in one of the screens you can seen a tree that grew into the skybox and got decapitated before I pruned it back).
-All the waterfalls come from a single water source near the top of the tree.
-I found that placing a torch next to each sapling prevented them from popping back out of the ground even in the most stubborn places.
-I used sand for the tall pillars measuring the height of the aqueduct so that I could remove them from below.
-There is a ladder inside the tree that takes you half way up and you can climb all the way to the top with a series of somewhat tricky jumps.
-There are two secret areas that can only be accessed by following the streams inside the tree.
- Tower scrapes skybox… can’t be made any taller.
- The shaft is 4×3 with a ladder running up through the middle.
- Entire construction is smooth stone.
- Farm & harvest 1746 papyrus. This is 27+ full stacks.
- Use 1389 wooden planks for the floor & bookshelves.
- Mine out about 1800 blocks to make room for the room itself.
Hello! Minecraft Creations is a blog dedicated to spotlighting some of the coolest construction projects players have completed in Notch’s Minecraft.
This site will be driven by YOUR submissions, so if you’ve created something cool, please send your screenshots, youtube links, and (optionally) write-ups to minecraftcreations@gmail.com.
